Q&A
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your books
“The Girl Who Grew" was inspired by the journey of self-discovery and encouraging girls that they be anything they want in the future. It explores the power of dreams, and the magic of believing in oneself. I wanted to create a story that resonates with young readers and encourages them to embrace their own journeys.
"The Princess and The Shoe" is a modern twist on the classic fairy tale. I wanted to write a story that challenges traditional gender roles and stereotypes. This book emphasises the importance of individuality and self-empowerment, showing that being true to oneself is more important than fitting into societal expectations.
“How to Win in Business (as a Woman)" is a practical guide for women navigating the business world. Drawing from my own experiences in brand development and strategic consultancy, I provide insights and strategies to help women succeed in business. It's about breaking down barriers and empowering women to reach their full potential in the corporate world.
What drives you to write these books?
My passion for storytelling and my commitment to gender equality drive my writing. Growing up, I faced my own set of challenges and learned the importance of resilience and self-belief. By the age of 25, I had founded my own business, Aphra, and now, as a mother of two young girls, I feel an even stronger responsibility to create empowering narratives. I want my daughters, and all young girls, to see themselves in these stories and know that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Stories have the power to inspire change and empower individuals, and through my books, I hope to provide readers with role models and narratives that encourage them to pursue their dreams and overcome obstacles.
